Talented Hands
The Crossroads Cultural Center in Port Gibson, Miss., has developed a following with travelers across the country. Quilters at the center create wonderful bed coverings more suitable for hanging on the walls than across a mattress. The group now holds regular quilt shows displaying the talents of area and state quilters.

D-Day Survivor
Joe Cournoyer of Jackson used the protection of his damaged landing craft for cover from the deadly German barrage that rained across the Omaha Beach on D-Day 60-years ago. At the end of his military career his "landing" on Normandy Drive in Jackson was his final move.

James Meredith
James Meredith shattered the color barrier for African-Americans who wanted to attend a university in Mississippi during the turbulent 1960's. His arrival at Ole Miss sparked violent protests that was the focus of national and international attention. Over the years he has written numerous books and spoken to coutless groups concerning those days. He recently turned over his personal papers to his alma mater so future generations could read about his college days.

Eat Healthful Foods
Madison Station Elementary School in Madison is among three local schools that received Center for Disease Control grants to fight childhood obesity. Students will learn more about proper nutrition and be encouraged to eat more fruits and vegetables. Doll Artist
Ridgeland doll maker and artist Anne Robin Luckett has created a series of dolls called "My Cup Runneth Over" where part of the profits will be donated to Catholic Charities and designated for their counseling of young mothers-to-be.

Coach and Builder
It wasn't too large a leap for a former Brandon High School football coach to stop building teams to start building homes. The retire coach now donates his time and skills to building structures with a faith based construction team.

Chief Phillip Martin
Chief Phillip Martin of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians has lead the tribe to tremendous economic growth with the construction of two massive casinos near Philadelphia, Mississippi. The tribe has become a powerhouse for change in the state.
